Inner Work Matters
Mindfulness comes down to a WITNESSING CAPACITY.
The piece below came into form as I contemplating the power of witnessing capacity that all of us can develop.
--
You are the one who
THINKS,
the one who
ACTS,
the one who
FEELS,
the one who
NOTICES,
The one who THINKS
is engrossed by THINKING.
The one who FEELS
is captivated by EMOTIONS
The one who ACTS
is busy ACTING.
Only the one who NOTICES
has the capacity to HOLD SPACE
for the one how THINKS, FEELS and ACTS.
From the noticing self, Rumi, the greatest poet in 13th century, voiced the noticer:
“Somewhere beyond right and wrong, there is a garden. I will meet you there.”
From the noticing self, Viktor Frankl, the Holocaust survival, shared his understanding:
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to
choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
